About me

I remember the feeling when I attended my first yoga class at the age of 17 in a community centre in Chichester - it sounds cliché but all I can say is that it honestly felt like coming home.

Having always been active and from a dance background, I joined the class as I knew it was good for flexibility, but I soon discovered that not only did it make my body feel good, it was helping me feel less anxious and happier in myself. I used to have low self esteem when I was younger - going to yoga each week felt like a safe haven for me.

From then on I became  fascinated with the practice and knew it would be a big part of my life.

In 2008 I trained in Hatha Yoga with the Friends of Yoga Society teaching local community classes and then went on to explore other styles of yoga such as Ashtanga, Scaravelli and Kundalini Yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan) completing the Level 1 training in 2012.

Returning back to my roots in Hatha Yoga, in 2016 I took a 2 year teacher training with Brighton based yoga school Vajrasati Yoga with influence from Iyengar Yoga with focus on safe alignment, intuitive movement and kindness.

My love of the practice has lead me to explore further training and study including anatomy, core strength, approaches to adjusting, breathwork and mindfulness, all of which I infuse in my classes.

I have taught public classes across Brighton for the last 10 years as well as for staff at London Twitter offices, for the Women's Wellbeing show in Brighton, for people with cancer via Albion and the Community Brighton and internationally for retreats in Crete, Germany and regular classes at a 5 star resort in Kenya on my 18 month travels.

Along with teaching yoga, I also work for the NHS as a Care Navigator and Patient Care Advisor.

Balancing the busyness of modern everyday life is something I know well. Yoga has bought balance and resilience over the years and this is what I hope to inspire others to find through the practice.

''I think you have a wonderful manner Camilla and the way you explain the postures, the breathing and the mindfulness is lovely.  I so love your style which is why I followed you on line.  You seem to live Yoga and you exude its benefits which is the best testament for your classes.  I have studied with a lot of Yoga teachers and I must say most of them were not good advertisements for their teachings.  You are doing well, carry on the good work .''
